The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC Limited has debunked reports that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery has been shut down.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the Company says the refinery is fully operational and preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.

The NNPC Limited clarified that the reports of the refinery’s shutdown are false and urged the public to disregard them.

The statement noted that former Group Managing Directors of NNPC verified the refinery’s operational status a few days ago.

This development comes after the refinery resumed operations on November 26, 2024, following $1.5 billion rehabilitation project.

The refinery currently produces various petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and liquefied petroleum gas.
