Japan has said it has no plans of a special visa regime for skilled, young Nigerians

The Japanese foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement, debunked reports that even as Kisarazu, a city 51 kilometers from Tokyo, the capital, has been designated as a “Home Town” for the Nigerian community in the country, no programme is being undertaken for a special visa category for skilled Nigerians.

“There are no plans to take measures to promote the acceptance of immigrants or issue special visas for residents of African countries, and the series of reports and announcements concerning such measures are not true.”

Following President Bola Tinubu’s participation at the Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development, Japan had announced 4 cities as “Home Towns” for Nigerians and nationals of 3 other African countries.

The Presidency had in a statement, added that a special visa category will be put in place by the Japanese authorities for skilled young Nigerians desirous of emigrating to Japan.
