Non-academic staff of the Federal University of Technology Akure, says the ongoing protest is not targeted at crippling the education system but to demand for their rights.
The unions under the umbrella of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, and the Non-Academic Staff Union, said universities in the country would not reopen until their demands are met.
Chairman of the Joint Action Committee,Dele Durojaiye said without their demands being met, the hope of reopening universities in the country after months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic would not materialise.

The workers want all issues related to contributory pension resolved .
They also want the federal government to address the issue of discriminatory disbursement of Earned Allowance, pay them arrears of the new minimum wage among other issues
