North Central Governors Meet To Tackle Insecurity In The Region

Governors of Nigeria’s North Central States have pledged to adopt a joint approach to tackle insecurity and other problems plaguing the geopolitical zone.

This was the outcome of a meeting of the governors held in Abuja at the Nasarawa State lodge

The meeting’s host, Nasarawa state governor Abdullahi Sule, who is also chairman of the North Central governors forum, described the gathering as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration among the states to deal with shared challenges

The Governor expressed deep concern over recent attacks in Plateau, Benue, and Kwara States, and said the governors will not remain passive in the face of threats to peace in any part of the region.

He said the forum resolved to intensify consultation, enhance intelligence-sharing among security agencies, and leverage on the North central Development commission,NCDC to drive infrastructural and socio-economic projects across the region.

On the region’s economic potential, Governor Sule said agriculture and mining remain pivotal to the North Central’s growth.

Governor Sule expressed the forum’s gratitude to President Tinubu for his support and called for sustained partnerships with the Federal Government, private sector, and development partners to ensure progress in North Central Nigeria

The North Central Governors’ Forum comprises governors from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau states
