Data gathered by the North East Development Commission, NEDC, reveals that before the activities of Boko Haram insurgents, houses in the North East were about four million, out of which, five hundred houses and commercial structures have been destroyed or damaged by activities of the insurgents.
To fulfil one of its core mandates of rehabilitating, reconstructing and restoring means of livelihoods in the zone, the commission has flagged off the construction of five hundred housing units in Yola, Adamawa State.

The NEDC was established to address the developmental challenges and restore the means of livelihood of the people in the region.
The commission is in Adamawa State to flag off the construction of five hundred housing units.
Mohammed Alkali, the Managing Director of the commission, said three hundred houses will be constructed in the state capital, while a balance of two hundred houses would be spread across the state.
A fully equipped infectious disease laboratory, located at the Specialist Hospital Yola, for the testing of covid-19 and other diseases, were commissioned.
A burn centre at the Federal Medical Centre Yola, to address incidences of burn injuries was also commissioned.
The commission has also handed over food items to the Adamawa State government, for distribution across the state.
