North East Education : VP Kashim Shetima Launches ASSSEP In Bauchi

In a bid to reposition and address the challenges bedeviling the education sector in the North East sub Region, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched the Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Programmes in Bauchi state.

The Vice President Said the program is part of the federal government intervention to transform education outcomes in the northeast with more focus on key entrepreneur subjects in the areas of science, technology, mathematics and agriculture (STEM) aimed at empowering the young students to become entrepreneurs and self reliant

Over the years the north eastern states have been witnessing high number of out of school children and unemployed citizens which is undermining the development of the sub region.

To address the challenges the north east development commission Incollaboration with the state Governors of the sub region and other critical stakeholders have taken a serious step through a programme tagged Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Programmes which seeks to improve enrolments and Empowers young students with the necessary skills to be inovative and critical thinkers to help in increasing entrepreneurs in the country.

Launching the program, Vice President Kashim Shetima said the north east has been a victim of collective inability to impose uniform policy to drive school enrolment which is negatively affecting the sub region and called for concerted efforts in that regard.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and his Borno State counterpart Babagana Zulum said the north eastern states are working tirelessly to see to the success of the program which they noted has a lot of benefits.

As part of his One day official visit to Bauchi state, vice President KASHIM SHETTIMA Inaugurates projects including the commissioning of Bauchi Government house as well as the joint North East domestic Trade Fair among others.
