The governors of Northwest Nigeria have been urged to collaborate with Niger Republic to rid the geo-political zone of banditry.

The call was made by participants at a one-day workshop on conflict-sensitive communication, to support peacebuilding in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The one day workshop was organized for media practitioners and local government information officers by Pastoral Resolve, PARE in Zamfara State.

The state coordinator of the organization, Umar Maradun said, the workshop is aimed at sensitizing media practitioners on the need to focus more on peacebuilding, towards helping to end the long years of violent conflict in Zamfara and other Northwest states.

Bello Madaki who is one of the facilitators, challenged media practitioners to redirect energy and report towards promoting peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

The participants call on the Federal government to expedite action on the concerns raised in the National Livestock Transformation Plan 2019, as it contained strategies to curb banditry.
