Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has called for the intervention of the Federal Government through the Northeast Development Commission in the reconstruction of over seven collapsed bridges on Federal Highways in the State.

The call was made at the Northeast Governors’ Forum meeting which held in Jalingo, the Forum also want the Federal Government to take proactive measures in Northeast States , in view of the 2025 flood prediction in the sub region.

Governor Kefas charged the Federal Government to expedite action through the Northeast Development Commission, in the reconstruction of eight collapsed bridges at strategic Federal Highways in Taraba State.

The Chairman of the forum Babagana Zullum of Borno State sought the intervention of the Federal Government in mitigating the impact of flooding in the Northeast, as the States in the sub region have been identified as high risk locations.

He also called for a multidimensional approach to the security challenges facing the sub region.

The Governors proceeded to closed door session, after which a communique was presented.

The communique captured the need for the Federal Government to address the infrastructural and humanitarian crisis, high cost of Agricultural input, and the relocation of people living on the flood plains in the Northeastern States.

The Governors’ Forum also congratulated the University of Maiduguri, in Borno State on it’s 50th anniversary, and assured of it’s support for the institution’s re-launch of the University Endowment Fund coming up in November.
