Northern Traditional leaders say Nigeria must do more to reach children in hard to access and insecure areas to ensure every child is vaccinated.

The Northern Traditional Leaders Committee on Primary Health Care re-echoed their voices at the second quarter review meeting for 2025.

Chairman of the Committee and Emir of Argungu, HRH Samaila Mera, together with the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar III, urged members to step up sensitization programmes on the importance and effectiveness of polio vaccination.

For their parts, development partners called for stronger immunization efforts, and pledged continued support to ensure polio is eradicated from Nigeria for good.

The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muyi Aina said Nigeria is making progress in reducing infection rates and that non-compliance among caregivers has continued to decline.

The Northern Traditional leaders insist that sustained vaccination and improved security remain key to ensuring no child is left behind in the fight to eradicate polio.
