Not less than 7 casualties recorded at Jos Prison as Authority Assess situation

Officials of the Jos Correctional Center in the early hours of Monday recovered several dead bodies within the premises of the Custodial Center.

AIT’s Correspondent who was at the Yard in the early hours of Monday reports that Seven dead bodies were counted with one of them identified as NCC officer who was shot dead during the attack as unconfirmed report says there are several bodies inside the facility

Controller Jos Correctional Center, Samuel Aguda while addressing the Press also said another Personnel was shot in the arm when the invaders arrived at the Custodial Center at about 5.30pm on Sunday and immediately made for the main gate where they engaged the armed squad personnel in a gun duel before breaking into the yard.

Aguda, also confirmed that the Intelligence Unit and that of Records of the Correctional Centre were set ablaze by the Bandits.

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Sonny Teoden and Security chiefs visited the Custodial Center but declined comment after an assessment tour of the facility.

However, the Plateau State Police Command through it’s Spokesperson ASP Gabriel Ubah, who also addressed newsmen said a total of ten escapees have now been rearrested while the search for others is ongoing

As at the time of filing this report, the total number of escapees and those killed during the attack is yet to be ascertained .

Jos Custodial Centre came under attack by gunmen who stormed the facility in large numbers with sophisticated weapons.
