The Nationow-shiftedion Commission, NPC, says about Two Hundred Billion Naira have so far been expended since 2014 to date, from the budgeted Eight Hundred Billion for the now shifted 2023 Census.
The expenses include salaries, allowances, and for the purchase of equipment, including the Personal Digital Assistant, PDA.
NPC’s Federal Commissioner for Borno State, Barrister Isa Buratai, made this known at a Breakfast Meeting with Media Executives in Maiduguri.
The National Population Commission, NPC’s Federal Commissioner in charge of Borno, Barrister Isa Buratai, said the meeting was to explain the rationale behind the postponed 2023 National Census.
He said despite the shift in date by the previous Buhari administration, preparations for the census are still ongoing until the new Tinubu-led government announces a new date.

He emphasised that the census was not cancelled but was merely shifted to allow the present government to be part of it.
It could be recalled that the planning of Nigeria’s National Census commenced in 2014, with the Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD, right up to the Trial Census, whose outcome showed the readiness of the population commission.
Isa Buratai assured that no area will be left out.
The NPC’s Borno Federal Commissioner also assured that all sensitive and non-sensitive materials have been secured.
He commended Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, for his support to the National Population Commission in Borno State.
