Chief Operating Officer of the Nationwide League One, Olusola Ogunowo, says that growing the league from the grassroots is key to the sustainable development of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Ogunowo made these remarks at the opening match of the Nationwide League One between Kaduna United and Yoca Crocodile at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
The match Kaduna ended 2-0 in favour of Yoca Crocodile.
Speaking after the match, Olusola Ogunowo, expressed confidence that the Nigerian league can only improve, adding that with the growth of the Nationwide League, the plan is to regionalise the league.
Sixteen teams will emerge from the 32 groups of the Nationwide League One, where they will compete in a playoff for eight teams to be promoted to the Nigeria National League.
