The National Population Commission, NPoC has inaugurated the Census Security and Logistics Committee preparatory to the conduct of the National Population and Housing Census in Nigeria.
National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who Inaugurated the Committee on Wednesday in Abuja said Nigeria is in dire need of an accurate, reliable and uncompromised data for national planning and development. He added that Nigeria has a duty to meet up with the 2020 cycle in line with the United Nations census policy.
Census activities have slowed down since the suspension of the 2023 National Population and Housing Census in Nigeria.
The suspension which generated concerns among Nigerians came at a time the Commission had confirmed its readiness to carryout the national headcount.

The Commission however inaugurated one of the critical committees in the census process, apparently in a move that seems to have the blessings of President Bola Tinubu whose proclamation will kick start all the census activities.
The Census Security and Logistics Committee, chaired by the National Security Adviser and co- chaired by the Executive Chairman of National Population Commission, has representatives of other security and para-military agencies as members to drive the process of conducting the National Population and Housing census.
