The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, says it has arrested a 58-year old Haris Ishaq and two others, over their suspected involvement in a high tension electricity cable vandalism.

In a statement by the command’s spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Corps Mohammed Abdara, the suspects were arrested on May 16, along Sabongida-Bugaje Road, in Jibiya Local Government Area of the state by its anti-vandal team during a routine patrol exercise.

According to Abdara, the principal suspect, 58-year-old Haris Ishaq, who is a native of Yangero village, in Jibiya Local Government Area, had already confessed to being part of the crime and has sold some of the vandalised cables.

The two other suspects, 28-year-old Auwal Hamisu and 35-year-old Ibrahim Sabi were arrested because of their suspected complicity in the crime.

Abdara said that Hamisu, a resident of Yarnmawa Quarters in the Katsina Metropolis, bought 30kg of the cables at the cost of 9,500 Naira.

According to him, Sani, who resides at Sabongida Quarters, aided the lead suspect to commit the crime.

The spokesman further said, the command has concluded its investigation on the matter, as the 3 suspects will be charged to court.

He expressed the commitment of the Katsina NSCDC command, to collaborate with other security agencies, to fight crime and insecurity in the state.
