The Katsina State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mohammed Bello, has warned criminal elements and bandits terrorizing the state, to turn a new leaf, or face stiff resistance by his officers and men.

He said this is in their effort to fight all forms of crimes and criminality.

The command said it has successfully arrested two suspected criminals, a security guard for theft and another, for vandalization of electricity transformers in different parts of the state.

Commandant Muhammed Bello was speaking through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps, Muhammed Abdara.

He said, 35-year-old suspect, Almustapha Lawal, was arrested by men of the command, guarding the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Business Office in the metropolis.

He was picked up for breaking into the cashier’s office where he served as a security guard.

He said during the investigation, the suspect confessed to having stolen 300,000 thousand Naira from the same office two weeks before his recent arrest, and used the money to purchase a motorcycle.

Abdara further said that men of the command deployed to Kafur Local Government Area while on their routine patrol, arrested a 20-year-old Muntari Ali, suspected to be a transformer vandal.

He said the suspect was arrested when he was sighted inside the transformer, trying to vandalize it at Barakai Village of Kafur Local Government Area.

The command’s PRO further said, before the suspect’s arrest, he had already drained the transformer, worth hundreds of thousands of Naira.

Both suspects confessed to have committed the crimes, adding that it is their first time, and appealed for forgiveness.

Abdara however, said they will be charged to court, as soon as investigations are concluded.
