The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command through its surveillance and intelligence unit, arrested two human traffickers, Gift Rita and Joy Samuel who specialise in trafficking teenage girls for commercial sex activities from Port Harcourt to Ilorin the Kwara State capital

Parading the suspects, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Iskil Makinde who described the development as unfortunate said the traffickers under false claim brought four teenage victims of 14, 15, 16 and 17 years of age respectively into the state to work in a hotel to raise money for their upkeep.

Addressing Journalists during the parade of the suspected human traffickers, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Kwara State command, Iskil Makinde who almost cried over the ugly development, said the command upon intelligence information arrested the traffickers and their teenage victims who they brought from Port Harcourt without the knowledge of their parents.

Receiving the victims for possible reorientation, the Kwara State Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Sadu Ajara said they will be subjected to necessary rehabilitations.

Meanwhile, the suspects said they were only trying to assist their victims to raise money for their upkeep.

The NSCDC has since handed over the victims and the suspects for necessary rehabilitation even as the Commandant advises parents on sound moral training for their children to correct this wrong trend.
