Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Gombe State, North-East Nigeria, Mohammed Muazu on Sunday confirmed the arrest of not fewer than 76 persons following a tip-off on same-sex birthday party and planned marriage.

Briefing journalists at the Command’s headquarters, Mohammed Muazu said his operatives prevented the wedding from taking place, stressing that the NSCDC has zero tolerance for social vices.

Represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Saad, the Commandant said upon investigation 21 men out of 59 males were involved in gay activities while the remaining males and 17 women were invited guests and onlookers at the birthday party.

A large horde of individuals arrested were seen in an amateur video partying in an open hall with a 20-year-old Bashir called by his admirers Basira dancing to entertain and prepare for a wedding ceremony for his suitor who is at large.

The Civil Defence officials say they are worried about the ages of the individuals who were involved in the act stating that they would ensure the individuals return to school under observation. The Command assures it would prosecute the individuals after concluding its investigations
