NSCDC Arrests NNPC Pipeline Vandals, Recovers Stolen Car

The Taraba State Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has paraded 6 suspects for the vandalization of critical national infrastructure.

The Commandant of the Corps Anthony Bitrus says the rate of such incidents has become rampant in some parts of the State, and charged citizens on the protection of national assets, and alerting the security agencies where necessary.

According to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the crackdown on vandals of critical national assets in Taraba State is yielding results, as several suspects have been arrested.

The latest are these suspects who were apprehended by the Corps in partnership with the Nigerian Army, for the vandalization of pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company NNPC in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Commandant of the Corps Anthony Bitrus said over 100 pieces of such pipes have been intercepted in Jalingo the State capital, as well as Wukari Local Government Area.

Bitrus also commended the Taraba State Government for providing the Corps with 9 motorcycles, to be used for patrol purposes.

In the same light, the Corps has recovered a stolen vehicle, and also apprehended a murder suspect who was at large, and allegedly linked to the violent conflicts recorded in Ussa Local Government Area.

Commandant Anthony Bitrus also tasked citizens on the protection of national infrastructure, and reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
