The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has arrested a 35-year-old suspect, Halilu Suleiman, for vandalising and removing electric spindle pins from a high-tension power line.

The Commandant of the Corps, Jamilu Indabawa, who said this while parading the suspect at the Command’s Headquarters, added that the command remains dedicated to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the people of Katsina State and the country at large.

In a statement by the spokesman of the Corps, Deputy Superintendent of Corps, DSC Buhari Hamisu, the suspect, Suleiman, who is a labourer, was nabbed on August 20.

He added that, based on credible intelligence, the command’s anti-vandalism team apprehended the suspect who broke 28 pieces of spindle pins of the high-tension wire in Are Village of Rimi Local Government Area.

DSC Hamisu added that nemesis caught up with him when men of the command arrested him while on his way to reach the scrap vendors at the nearby Charanchi Market in Charanchi Local Government Area.

While searching the suspect, 28 pieces of 33KVA line spindle pins of high-tension wire were recovered from him as exhibit by the NSCDC personnel.

Hamisu added that the suspect will be prosecuted after the completion of investigation.

Commandant Indabawa, therefore, warns all criminals and miscreants in the state to desist from their evil acts, as the Corps and other security agencies will relentlessly pursue them to their Waterloo.
