The Kwara NSCDC boss Umar Mohammed revealed that the suspects, aged between 19 and 24, were apprehended around 1:00 a.m. last Saturday at Tanke during a joint operation by the NSCDC Tanke Division and the Tanke Community Vigilante Group.

The suspects were intercepted in possession of vandalized cables suspected to have been stolen from Asa Dam and Sapati communities acts that have plunged several areas into darkness.

Items recovered from the suspects include transformer cables, streetlight cables, and burnt copper wires.

The Commandant noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement and to apprehend other accomplices linked to the vandalization.

In another development, the Command rescued a seven-year-old girl found wandering the streets of Ilorin, suspected to be a kidnap victim who escaped from Ogun State. The NSCDC has called on parents or anyone able to identify the girl with valid proof to come forward for her return home.

The Commandant, Umar Mohammed, urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting public infrastructure across Kwara State.
