NSF: Oba of yoruba, Muritala Alimi congratulates team Kano for outstanding performance

The Oba of Yoruba Kano, Muritala Alimi Otisese has congratulated the Kano contingent on the just concluded 21st edition of the National Sports Festival, NSF tagged Delta 2022.

The traditional ruler described the sterling performance by the state contingent as heroic, noting that the overall performance by Team Kano deserved to be appreciated

The monarch in a statement issued in Kano said once again, Kano athletes have shown that the state retains its role as the frontline state in northern Nigeria and Nigeria at large.

According to him, team Kano winning 19 gold, 27 silver, and 30 bronze, in total of 76 medals is an enviable achievement.

In his words “Team Kano came 7th position on the final medals table, that is to say, Kano is the first team in the north, finishing among the first 10 in Nigeria, this is an excellent performance.

“I thank almighty Allah, the giver of life, He made it possible for our children to achieve this feat. The festival is our own version of the Olympics, it is important to identify with the success story and we say well done to Team Kano.

“I congratulate the government of our beloved state, under the leadership of our governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, our profound felicitations to our royal father, our highly revered emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, whose love and passion for sports, we are emulating”.

“Kano state Sports Commission, KSSC under the stewardship of a veteran in sports voyage, Alhaji, (Dr) Ibrahim Galadima and members of his management team, we cannot thank you enough.

“Kano sporting press kept us abreast back home with happenings throughout the fiesta, in far away Asaba, the coaches, organizing secretaries, medical team, drivers, too numerous to mention, all those that made it happen, we are proud of you all.

“I want to appeal to the good people of Kano to appreciate their achievements, physically, materially, spiritually”.

“As we draw closer to the 2023 General Elections I employ our Kano youths to emulate our NSF 2022 heroes, by also investing their energy towards the collection of their PVC and proceed to the polls to elect leaders of their choice in an atmosphere of peace and unity, to move our state forward”.

“I also appeal to our sportsmen and women to indulge in the process of electing our leaders, prior, during and after the elections, promote and support processes of peace throughout the process… I beseech Allah to continue to guide and protect us all.” Otisese stated.
