As the University of Jos prepares to host the 27 edition of the Nigerian Universities games, corporate bodies and spirited individuals have been tasked with supporting sporting development in Nigerian universities.
President of NUGA, Muhammad Bawa made this plea during the groundbreaking ceremony of a sports complex to be completed before the games.
The Vice-chancellor of the university Ishaya Tanko, noted that sports has become a multi-billion dollar industry and the country can’t afford not to cash in on it, hence the institution will be using the NUGA games to further explore the potential in the sporting world.
President of the Nigerian Universities Games Association , Muhammad Bawa appealed to the Plateau state government and corporate bodies to partner with the University of Jos towards hosting the 27th edition of the games as the benefits will be enormous.
The multi-sports complex which will have two courts, basketball and tennis with markings for other games was donated by the ASR foundation and is expected to be completed and handed over before the games.
