Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has hailed Governor Aminu Masari for appointing one of its own, Sani Kabomo as Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service.

He is to serve in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Home Affairs.

In a statement by the Chairman of the Union, Tukur Dan-Ali, the appointment of the veteran journalist, Kabomo, in the position of Permanent Secretary, is a clear testimony of the present state government’s commitment to work with media experts, who have contributions to offer in the general development of the state.

The feat, according to Dan-Ali, is a result of the recent visit by the National President of the NUJ, Chris Isiguzo to Katsina, who called on the state government to consider appointing media practitioners in various government positions, especially, as Permanent Secretary, because of their status of the Fourth Estate of the Realm.

The statement further added that, before his recent appointment as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Home Affairs, Sani Kabomo had held various positions, as Reporter, Senior and Principal Editor, Chairman of NUJ, Katsina State Radio Chapel, Press Secretary of the SSG, as well as General Manager of Katsina State Radio Services.

The Katsina NUJ boss, said they are confident that Kabomo will perform well in the present position, to the satisfaction of the Katsina State governor, and other superior officers.

He said as watchdogs, and mirror of society, they are confident that a practising journalist is in a better position to perform extremely well, in whatever position, especially as it relates to public service, or political appointment.

While thanking the governor for being media friendly, and a lover of journalists, Dan-Ali called for more appointments for practising journalists, in the various positions of government.
