The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, NVMA, has raised concerns over the rising rate of human animal intimacy, animal cruelty and quackery in Nigeria.
Speaking at an event in Abuja to commemorate the 2022 world veterinary day in Nigeria, the deputy chief whip of the Nigerian senate, senator Sabi Abdullahi, urged the development of veterinary medical centres across the country while condemning the unlawful act of animal human intimacy.
The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association has over time maintained its zero tolerance for the increasing rate of quackery in practice just as it does not hide its worries over the increasing animal diseases and animal cruelty in the veterinary system.
These concerns got the Association making fresh commitments to take its rightful place in disease prevention, control and ensure that the people have safe food to eat, while stamping out quackery from the profession.

Organisers solicited the support and co-operation of the government and the Veterinary Council of Nigeria in the fight with hopes that the collaboration will yield positive results.
The theme for the 2022 edition of the world veterinary day, celebrated every last week of April each year,
is, “Strengthening Veterinary Resilience”.
