The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has reopened the University which was recently closed down in the wake of students protest about three week ago.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the decision to reopen the University was reached at an emergency meeting of the Senate, held on Friday, 29th October, 2021.

The release further stated that the students are expected back in school from Friday, 5th November, 2021 with examinations continuing Saturday, 6th of November, 2021 from where it stopped before the closure.
The management of the institution advise Parents and guardians to inform their wards, particularly those who have completed their examinations to remain at home till further notice to avoid being used as tools for chaos in the school.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, charged the Students to be law abiding and not to engage in anything act that could further disrupt the academic session.
Students of the university had on October first, staged a protest round the school, a development that prompted the school management to shut down the school to avoid damage to lives and property.
