The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has dissociated the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, from the alleged assault on Don Pedro Obaseki, describing the act as unauthorised and inconsistent with the character of the revered monarch.
In a statement signed by the Secretary, Frank Irabor, the Council stressed that His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, did not sanction the incident, noting that such behaviour does not reflect the Oba’s peace-loving disposition.
The BTC warned youths against taking the law into their own hands and urged the public, especially social media users, to verify information before sharing matters concerning the Oba of Benin or the Benin Palace.
