Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has called for a truce meeting with candidates of the different political parties participating in the September 19 governorship election in the State to sign a peace pact.
The Oba of Benin who is worried by the rising violent tendencies said a peace pact will enable political gladiators to talk to their followers to shun violence before, during and after the September 19 governorship election.

The two major political parties, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the main opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC, have been embroiled in accusations and counter-accusations concerning alleged attacks on both sides, especially during the campaigns.
