The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu and his counterpart from Rivers State, king Douglas Jaja have called on government and other public spirited individuals to see touching lives of the less privileged in the society as way of life.

With the theme: “Excellent Service, Beacon of Hope”, the Lions Club Convention created opportunity for the club to use its National and international influence in the society to touch lives and provide succour to the needy.

These first class Traditional Rulers from Cross River and Rivers, emphasised on the need to support humanitarian service at all times .

Speaking on the need to partner with government at various levels for the impact of the club to be domiciled at the grassroots level, Chairman of the occasion, Olatunbosun Okpeseyi and the District Governor of Lions Club International, Linda Odu-Okpeseyi said despite the numerous achievements in the last six months, community engagements will be their next line of action.

Participants at the event said one take away from the royal hosting of the convention was a lesson of unity in the diversities of Nigeria preached by the royal fathers and other speakers at the event.

Currently, Lions Club has impacted on the lives of the citizens of both Northern and Southern Nigeria in the area of education, health, women and Youths empowerment as well as advocacy against illicit behavior across higher institutions in the Country.
