The open bidding for procurement of contractors for the construction of the Obudu international cargo airport, Tuesday, commenced in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.
The bidding according to the Cross River State commissioner for aviation, Jake Otu-Enya, is to demonstrate government’s efforts at transparency, accountability and adherence to the principle of due process and procedures for attainment of value for money.
According to the commissioner, the essence of the cargo airport is to effectively drive and sustain tourism, commerce, and industrialization policies of the government with a dependable air transportation in the state.

On their part, the representative from the Due Process Office, Esther Ushie and chairman of Cross River house of assembly committee on works, Nelson Ofem, any lucky contractor who gets the job must ensure timely completion in line with specifications.
Other federal agencies represented at the open competitive bidding were the auto office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), federal ministry of aviation, bureau of public procurement among others.
