OBUDU RANCH ROAD CRASH: CROSS RIVER GOVERNMENT CONDOLES FAMILIES OF SEMINARIANS KILLED

Cross River State Government has sent condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Enugu and families of the victims involved in Saturday’s tragic accident near the Obudu Ranch Resort.

Deputy Governor of the state, Peter Odey delivered the government’s message during a visit to the Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital in Obudu, where survivors are receiving treatment.

The accident which occurred in Ikwette community of Obanliku Local Government Area claimed four lives and left nine others injured.

The victims were said to be seminarians from the Enugu Catholic Diocese who were on a guided tour of the Ranch Resort were led by a Reverend Father.

The tragic incident occurred as they descended the hill after concluding their visit as the church bus reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed while navigating a sharp bend at the foot of the Obudu hill.

Speaking at the hospital, the Deputy Governor described the loss as a devastating tragedy for the Church, the affected families, and the entire state.

He assured the survivors of state government’s full support throughout their recovery, pledging that the bereaved families would not be left to grieve alone.

Peter Odey also commended the swift and courageous intervention of emergency responders, including Nigerian Army personnel stationed at the Ranch, for their role in the immediate rescue efforts.

The Cross River State Government further reaffirmed its commitment to the wellbeing of visitors and citizens alike, while also promising to strengthen safety measures across all tourist corridors within the state.
