Fresh controversy has erupted over the 2018 Offa Bank Robbery, where more than five banks were attacked and over 30 lives lost in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The latest twist comes as the Kwara State Government allegedly moves to indict former Senate President Bukola Saraki over alleged links to the suspects, a move the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) describes as politically motivated.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) insists Saraki must return to court to clear his name.
Many residents had believed the case was closed after the suspects were sentenced to life imprisonment following nearly five years of litigation.
But the issue has taken a new dimension, with PDP Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, accusing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of reviving the matter to target Saraki politically.
Responding, APC chieftain Abdulwaheed Babatunde maintained that Saraki must answer the allegations in court.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, the renewed controversy signals that the Offa robbery saga is far from over, as political tensions continue to build across Kwara State.
