Seven out of the twenty-one sites in the OGONI CLEANUP EXERCISE have been completed and handed over for scientific analysis by the National Oil Spill Detection And Response Agency NOSDRA.
The Minister of Environment, Mohammad Abubakar during the handing over ceremony of the completed sites in Eleme council area of Rivers state reinstated the federal government’s commitment to the cleanup of Ogoni land.
The Minister in his opening remarks says the handing over of the sites to the regulatory body for due diligence is a pointer to the fact that President Mohammadu Buhari is determined to change the negative narrative of the people of the Niger Delta region who have suffered over four decades of environmental pollution.

The Minister who expressed satisfaction with the tremendous achievement recorded in the actualization of the cleanup project called for total support from the people of Eleme.
He assured the people that the clean up projects would be sustained
Seven out of a total of twenty one sites in the batch one phase one of the remediation of polluted sites in ogoni land have now been completed.
