They said this during the 2nd dialogue session with stakeholders on Ogoni oil extraction resumption, pathway to sustainable Ogoni environment in port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, South South Nigeria.

The planned resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland proposed by the Federal government is still a topic of discussion among stakeholders from ogoni ethnic nationality.

The second dialogue session was put together by the Community Development Centre to brainstorm on the best way the Federal government should go about the process so as to avoid further conflict in the region

The people of Ogoni have suffered environmental degradation and economic marginalization by multinational oil companies.

Therefore, these stakeholders want due process to be followed in addressing the ogoni Bill of Rights, health audit of the people, remediating the polluted environment, among others before the planned oil resumption

The planned resumption of oil exploration remains complex hence the government must tread carefully to avoid exacerbating tensions.
The people are seeking justice, equity, and active involvement in decision-making processes.
