Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has commuted the death sentences of 45 condemned prisoners to prison terms.
Governor Abiodun also granted pardon to 41 other inmates serving in different Correctional Centres across the state.
At the 2024 Democracy Day event in the state capital Abeokuta, the governor said the gesture is within the context of his prerogative powers in line with laid down law.

Guest lecturer at the event, Richard Akinnola said military rule should not be contemplated even in the face of the shortfalls of democratic rule.
The event ended with the cutting of a 25th Democracy Day anniversary cake .
