The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has condemned the continued detention of four journalists facing cybercrime allegations.
The Union Chairman, Wale Olarenwaju during a press conference, Monday at the union Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta explained that one of its members, Seun Odunlami was among the four arrested and appealed that the journalists be granted bail.
The NUJ, Ogun State council says the Gestapo manner in which Odunlami was picked up on September, 25 by plain-clothed officers very close to the Secretariat of the union is a sad reminiscent of the better-forgotten-military era.
The Chairman, NUJ, Ogun Council said several interventions were made to ensure that the journalists were released on bail but has failed He appealed to well meaning Nigerians to intervene.

The four journalists were charged with violating sections 24(1)(b) and 27 of the Cybercrimes Act.
They were arraigned before a Federal High court in Lagos for a report that accused the CEO of a new generation bank of involvement in alleged fraud worth N1 trillion (US$600 million).
The journalists had pleaded not guilty and were remanded at a Lagos correctional center.
