Oil Theft : Edo NSCDC impounds 7 vehicles, arrests suspects

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC, Edo State Command, has arrested ten suspects for illegal dealings in petroleum products.

The arrest was a renewed vigorous and strategic effort put in place by the Commandant Samuel Dan to combat the menace of oil theft, illegal refineries, oil bunkering and illegal dealings in petroleum product in Edo State.

The Illegal petroleum products totaling almost thirty five thousand liters , packaged in drums, Jerry cans, five vehicles and two short trucks were impounded and taken to the premises of the Nigeria security and civil defense in Benin city.

Commandant of the corps in Edo state Samuel Dan, who paraded ten persons connected with the illegal petroleum products says they were arrested by men of the Nigeria army along Ekehuan road while taking the illegal petroleum products to unknown destinations.

The suspects while giving accounts of their involvement in the crime denied knowledge of the products being illegal claiming they were drivers who were directed to convey the products from a source location to another location.

The commandant Who frowned at the continuous act of sabotaging the economy of the nation through vandalizing of oil pipelines and illegal dealings in petroleum products reiterated its warning to those engaged in the act to desist from it or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
