Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, says propaganda from Cross River State will not result in the ceding of the seventy-six oil wells he maintains belong to Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Eno made this known at a public event in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The controversy surrounding the 76 oil wells remains unresolved, as Cross River State continues to lay claim to the oil assets currently attributed to Akwa Ibom.
Addressing stakeholders and supporters at the event in Uyo, Governor Eno said he is not disturbed by statements credited to Cross River officials suggesting they would recover the oil wells. He described such comments as propaganda aimed at scoring cheap political points rather than addressing the issue through lawful means.
The governor stressed that the matter has already been subjected to judicial interpretation and insisted that due process must prevail.

Governor Eno reiterated his commitment to the rule of law, emphasizing that the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the matter should be respected by all parties involved.
He maintained that Akwa Ibom State will continue to rely on legal frameworks and constitutional provisions in handling the dispute.
The governor further vowed to defend what he described as the rightful resources of the state, stating that his administration would explore all lawful avenues to protect the interests of Akwa Ibom people.
As the disagreement persists between the two neighbouring states, attention is now focused on the Federal Government for a clear and definitive pronouncement that could finally settle the lingering dispute.
