Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has revealed plans to recruit about 60 Chartered Accountants into the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) and the Office of the Accountant General.
The move is aimed at strengthening transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the state’s financial system.
The governor made this known while receiving members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Benin City
While receiving the delegation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, led by its President, Haruna Yahya at Government House, the Governor commended the body for upholding high standards in the accounting profession.
He assured that his administration will continue to engage qualified professionals to strengthen transparency and efficiency in government operations.
Governor Okpebholo explained that his decision to recruit ICAN-certified accountants into the Edo State Internal Revenue Service and the Office of the Accountant-General is aimed at ensuring prudent management of government resources.
In a separate engagement with members of the Igbo community in Edo State, Governor Okpebholo assured of inclusive governance.
He promised to appoint a Commissioner and a Special Adviser of Igbo extraction into his administration.
