The Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo has disclosed that security agencies in the State have arrested the suspected masterminds of the recent herdsmen attack on Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Ododo broke the news in his home town, Okene while responding to enquires by Journalists on the security situation in the Confluence State.
The crisis rocking e Bagana and Agojeju-Odo communities in Omala Local Government has lingered for over four decades, with attendant losses of lives and property worth billions of naira.
Only in January 2024, four people were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Agojeju-Odo community while most of the indigenous people were sacked from their ancestral homes and are currently taking refuge in neighbouring villages.
A Police report on yet another midnight attack of April 4, 2024 on the same community, claimed 19 lives with several houses and livestock, destroyed.
Governor Ododo said security agents are closing on the culprits following the arrest of the masterminds of the killings, who are currently cooling off in security net.
The Governor assured the people that
the report of the recent attack in Agojeju-Odo will be made public once investigation has been concluded.
The Kogi State Chief Executive promised to continue to support security agencies in the State to enable them to flush out criminals from the Confluence State.
