Benue State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has noted with concern the circulation of misleading reports on social media claiming that the executive committee of the party in the state, led by Benjamin Omale, has been sacked and replaced by a purported Austin Agada-led State Working Committee.
A statement by its Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yawe stated categorically that the reports are false, mischievous, and calculated to mislead members of the party and the general public.
He said contrary to the impression being created by purveyors of the misinformation, no court sitting in Makurdi on Wednesday passed any judgement dissolving the Omale-led State Executive Committee of the APC in the state.
The APC therefore insists that reports currently in circulation are a gross distortion of facts and should be disregarded in their entirety.
Yawe further argued that for the avoidance of doubt, the tenure of the former State Executive Committee led by Austin Agada has long expired.
He noted that the issue of leadership of the party in Benue State has since been overtaken by constitutional processes and validly concluded party congresses.
Yawe said it is a matter of public record that the APC conducted its State Congress in February 2026 in accordance with the Constitution of the party and applicable guidelines.
The ruling party said the congress duly elected Benjamin Omale and other members of the State Executive Committee to pilot the affairs of the party in Benue State.
Adding that the outcome of that congress was subsequently ratified and formally recognised by the appropriate organs of the party, culminating in its confirmation at the APC National Convention held in Abuja in March 2026.
“Accordingly, Benjamin Omale remains the duly elected and recognised Chairman of the APC in Benue State, while members of the current State Executive Committee remain the only legitimate officials constitutionally empowered to administer the affairs of the party in the state.”Yawe added
He therefore found it both surprising and unfortunate that certain individuals and groups continue to recycle narratives that have no foundation in law, party procedure, or political reality.
The APC views the latest misinformation campaign as a desperate attempt by political actors seeking relevance through confusion and sensationalism rather than through legitimate democratic engagement.
He advised party members and supporters not to be distracted by unverified social media publications designed to create unnecessary tension within the party and among the people of Benue State.
According to him, the Omale-led APC in Benue State remains united, stable, and firmly focused in supporting the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia in its ongoing efforts to deliver sustainable development, strengthen institutions, and improve the welfare of the people.
It urged members of the public to rely only on official communications from the party and disregard the activities of rumour merchants whose stock-in-trade is the dissemination of falsehood and political mischief.
“No amount of propaganda, misinformation, or orchestrated media speculation can alter the constitutional reality that the Benjamin Omale-led Executive Committee remains the duly elected, recognised, and legitimate leadership of the APC in Benue State.,” the statement concluded
