Ondo EFCC Raid: Business Owners Count Losses As Youths Protest

Hospitality business owners in ondo state are already counting their losses following Saturday’s raid of two night clubs in Akure by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

ait.live has been following the development and noticed that youths in the state also took to the streets on Monday to condemn the action of the EFCC.

In the early hours of Saturday,June 8,2024, operatives of the Economic and financial crimes commission
raided two night clubs and a lounge in Akure,Ondo State capital, arresting about 127 suspected internet fraudsters.

The operatives raided the fun-seekers including a groom and his friends who were holding bachelor’s eve.

The invasion is raising questions over the November 2023 pronouncement of a ban on midnight raids by chairman of the EFCC,Ola Olukoyede.

Earlier on Monday youths took to major streets in Akure,the state capital to protest what they described as illegal invasion and harassment by operatives of the EFCC .

Since then, Lounge and club owners in the state have been counting their losses.

They alleged that several equipment, items and property were destroyed and cartered away by operatives of the EFCC.

They described the EFCC’s action as an act of injustice, illeglity and threat to the hospitality business in the state.

Meanwhile the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa while meeting with owners of night clubs said innocent people affected by the operation should seek redress.
