Most polling units in Idanre local government area of Ondo State on Saturday witnessed early arrival of electoral materials and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the day’s governorship election.
AIT’s Olufemi Akobi who monitored the exercise across several polling units that witnessed large turnout of electorate reports that the voting exercise which started on a peaceful note in Idanre community later witnessed a crisis over a move by some voters who attempted to show their ballot papers to others after casting their votes.

Meanwhile the issue was later resolved by the Supervisory Presiding Officer, Olu-Martins Builder who maintained that voting should be done secretly.
Idanre being one of the flash points saw security operatives from the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Army manning strategic locations in the community to maintain law & order.
