The Ondo State Government says it will soon build a rehabilitation centre to cater for people with mental disorders as a result of drug abuse, which the government blames for the majority of the mental health challenges in the state.
State Health Commissioner Banji Ajaka made this public when he represented Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at a mental health summit in Akure, the state capital.
He said the burden of drug abuse is on the rise and becoming a public health concern in Nigeria, adding that efforts are in place by the Ondo State government to build a fully functioning rehabilitation centre to cater for people with substance use disorders and mental illness.
