Members of the Ondo State chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNN, have issued 48 hours ultimatum to the state Government, over the payment of Fifty percent salary for the month of November 2020 to them, or they will embark on strike.

The threat is coming one week after the doctors under the auspices of the Ondo Government Doctors Forum, OGDF, began an indefinite strike.

The Nurses working in the state owned Government hospitals, said that they cannot continue to work on empty stomach, hence all their allowances must be paid.

They are also demanding for the payment of the remaining tranches of the Covid-19 allowances without delay.

The members also expressed their readiness, to pull out of  the Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU.

Meanwhile efforts by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in the state to wade into the issue has proved abortive, as the nurses where not ready to listen to the explanation of the Union over the fifty percent salary cut.

Efforts to get the reaction of the representative of the state Government, to speak on the issue also proved abortive.
