The Ondo State Police Command has debunked a report alleging that Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were ordered to contribute thirty-nine thousand naira each for the deployment of personnel to Lagos State ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

In a statement signed and released in Akure, the Command’s spokesperson, Olushola Ayanlade, described the publication as misleading, false, and a deliberate attempt to distort facts.

He clarified that no such directive was issued and that at no time were officers compelled to make any financial contribution for the said deployment.

Ayanlade explained that the deployment of officers from neighboring commands is in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s directive to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the elections.

He noted that such inter- and intra-command collaboration is a standard practice within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command urged members of the public to disregard the report in its entirety, affirming its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and public trust.
