ONDO STATE

Women from Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal Constituency in Ikare-Akoko Ondo state, have protested the disparity against women in political representation in the constituency.

The women who took their protest to the palace of Olukare, displaying placards with different inscriptions, say it is high time women are given opportunity to represent the federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

The women who came out in their numbers from different communities of Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West Federal Constituency in Ikare-Akoko are protesting against marginalization of women in elective positions in the state.

The peaceful protest was due to the appointment of Olubunmi ojo as the minister of interior, thereby creating a vacuum.

The women said they should be given the necessary support to fill the vacant Federal seat in a bye-election expected to take place later this year.
