Edo State House of Assembly has called on relevant authorities to investigate an alleged attack on Okpuje community in Owan West Local Government Area of the State by suspected operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA which led to the death of an indigene and left several others injured.
The Assembly made the call during plenary where members expressed displeasure over what they described as an attack allegedly carried out by NDLEA operatives. The incident reportedly led to the death and injury of residents of Okpuje community in Owan West Local Government Area, on October 27, 2025.
Assembly Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, condemns the alleged act and calls on relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter.
During plenary, the lawmakers also considered a bill seeking to provide for the protection of government property, with establishment of the Edo State Property Protection Committee, with powers to prosecute offenders, among other related matters.
Similarly, a bill to repeal the State Sanitation and Pollution Management Law 2023, and to enact a new law for sanitation, pollution, and waste management in Edo State was also deliberated upon.
Thereafter, the two bills went through third reading and were subsequently passed by the lawmakers.
Ar the same sitting, the Assembly confirmed three nominees for appointment into the State Judicial Service Commission, including Martins Omozogie, David Osifo, and Felix Imoisili.
