Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara

After 12 months in office, governor Fubara says his administration is succeeding as the state’s internally generated revenue witnessed an astronomical increase from 12 billion naira to between 17 billion naira in off-peak periods and 28 billion naira during the peak months.

Governor Fubara, who on Wednesday presented his scorecard in office, says the liberalized business-friendly economic policies and programmes of his administration are already boosting confidence and attracting local and international investors and investments into the State.

This one year journey, however, started on a rocky path as Sim Fubara was faced with a barrage of challenges, including sabotage and an impeachment plot just three months into his tenure.

Luckily, the worst appears to be over… and May 29 offers him the opportunity to present his scorecard for the last 12 months to the people

Despite the unprecedented challenges, Governor Fubara says his first year in office has been marked by significant achievements with his administration embarking on some of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the history of the state …the 200-billion-naira Port Harcourt ring road, the 225-billion-naira Trans-Kalabari road and the 81-billion-naira Elele to Omoku road.

Worthy of note is the fact that the Rivers State Government is not borrowing to execute the projects …it says it would rely on its internally generated revenue

Governor Fubara adds that the funding of the mega projects would also not affect other plans or projects for the people

The last 12 months have also seen Governor Fubara, who
inherited a state whose economy was on a downward trajectory despite its growth potential, focusing attention on some other key sectors like education, health, agriculture, and human empowerment.

Rather than bemoan the situation, the governor and his team immediately swung into action to change the negative narrative.

The investment in the security of lives and property is equally yielding the desired results, with lower crime rates being reported across the state.

While he stands proud of the progress recorded in the last 12 months, Governor Sim Fubara says the state is now on the path of progress.

As he looks forward to another fulfilling year, Governor Sim Fubara is calling on the people of the state to join hands with his administration to build a better and prosperous Rivers State.
