The headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS along the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, popularly known as Airport Road in Abuja has been gutted by fire, burning some vital documents in a number of offices.
The Service confirmed the fire incident through its twitter handle, @nigimmigration, saying the inferno affected some of its offices.

It however added that the fire was put out by operatives of its own fire station with assistance from sister-organisations around the airport.
The Service also states that the cause of the fire is being investigated and assured
the public that the incident will not in any way affect the discharge of its duties.
