Following the recent security unrests in Opu-Nembe community in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria, the Council of Chiefs is accusing the Nigerian Police of plans to allegedly plant incriminating items in the homes of some notable personalities in a ploy to parade them as criminals.

At a media conference conducted in Yenagoa.on Sunday, August 20 the Council of Chiefs called on the Federal Government to immediately take proactive steps to stop those orchestrating the security unrest in the community.

It seems the security unrest brewing in the Opu-Nembe community is far from being over as developing issues continue to emerge daily.

Led by its Chairman, Ezekiel Ikoli, the Opu-Nembe Council Chiefs told journalists that they want the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to act on the petitions and reports sent to the Command by the community on the happenings in Opu-Nembe and ensure the personnel operates with the standard operation of engagement and do not endanger the lives of the people.

Recall, that personnel of the Police from the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Saturday, August 12, 2023 embarked on a raid in Opu-name community which they say was aimed at arresting criminals and recovering illegal arms and ammunitions.
